Dance, musical theater and acting classes at Robin Welch Dance Arts are taught by highly qualified instructors with years of professional and teaching experience. Please note scheduling and fees that apply for our end of the year Student Spring Showcase (recital). This wonderful production showcases the talents and growth of our students. Check out our daytime classes including **Mommy and Me (ages 3-5) class for moms wanting to exercise, spend quality time with their kids, and show the importance of exercise.

Note – two ** asterisks designate our daytime classes of Mommy and Me, Creative Movement, and Pre Dance. One * asterisk designates our classes at our Moylan Iceplex location, 12550 West Maple Road.

Pilates Mat Class  (ages 8 through adult)

Pilates Class (ages 8 through adult) This form of movement works deep in the muscles to tone, improve alignment and breathing, and increase body awareness. Through simultaneous stretching and strengthening, pilates is a non-impact balanced system of body and mind exercise. Buy our 10 Class Card for only $80. Try it out…we think you’ll love it! To register for this class, buy a Pilates 10 Class Card. Classes are Tuesdays from 4:00 pm-4:30:00 pm.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAM

Creative Movement (ages 3-4)

Creative Movement uses children’s natural love of movement to enhance the development of listening and motor skills while increasing coordination through music, rhythm, improvisation and group interaction. Also check out our daytime classes including **Mommy and Me (ages 3-5) class designed for moms wanting to exercise AND spend quality time with their kids. Create great memories while showing the importance of healthy exercise.

Creative Song and Dance (ages 3-4)

Young children’s love of movement and song makes this class a favorite! They will explore basic movement, tap, jazz and song.

Pre-Ballet (ages 5-6)

Pre-Dance offers continued exploration into movement, rhythm and group discipline through classes designed to develop imagination, coordination and musicality in children too young to begin formal ballet training.

Basic movement, tap, jazz and singing are the perfect blend for energetic kids!

ELEMENTARY BALLET PROGRAM

Ballet I (Two year course – ages 7-12 )

One ballet technique class per week is recommended. This two year course marks the beginning of formal ballet training and includes barre and center exercises using traditional French vocabulary names for steps. Students will begin to learn proper ballet arms and combine dance steps to create simple combinations.

Ballet II (Two year course – ages 9 – 12)

Two ballet technique classes per week are recommended. This two-year course continues formal ballet training through the repetition of the traditional ballet steps learned in Ballet I in order to continue each students’ development. Many new steps are introduced in this level and there is added focus on the coordination of body, arms, and legs while moving.

DAB212 - Thursday 5:30-7:00 pm – No Showcase follows this class

DAB213 - Saturday 10:30-12:00 pm

ELEMENTARY JAZZ, TAP, LYRICAL, ACTING AND MUSICAL THEATER

Jazz A (Beginning ages 7-12) This energetic and exciting beginning jazz class consists of distinctive moves, big leaps, high-extensions, and turns. Students wishing to excel in jazz need a strong grounding in ballet.

Tap A (Beginning ages 7-12)

Students begin to learn the footwork and rhythms needed for a solid background in tap dance technique in this fun, lively class.

DAT111 - Thursday 5:30-6:00 pm

Jazz B (Beginning Intermediate)

This beginning/intermediate jazz class continues the growth of young dance students through the introduction of more steps and the repetition of previously learned steps. Students wishing to excel in jazz need a strong grounding in ballet.

Acting (ages 7-9)

This fun and inventive class for young students is designed as an introduction to the very basics of acting. Improvisations, short memorization skills and character development will expand students imagination and ability to think creatively.

TAA111 – Monday 6:00-6:45 pm

SCA111 – Showcase rehearsal included in class time. Showcase Fee: $135

Musical Theater (ages 7-11)

Students will have the opportunity to study the fundamentals of voice, diction, basic dance and acting in this class. They will learn some of the wonderful classics from American musicals through exploring Disney songs, and working on portions of productions such as The Music Man and The King and I.
